Yet, another reason to loathe Politicians This story has it all; using God and the children to justify taking money from taxpayers by force to reward failing educators for doing their jobs poorly.
How many of you have heard of Gov. Bob Riley? Well he is just the kind of guy you'd expect to be in charge of a hell hole like Alabama. He is one of those guys who thinks that God would surely vote for him if he could. And that would explain how proud he is of his opposition to people making, what he considers poor choices. For example he opposes abortion, and even a 'Morning after' pill. I imagine Gov. Riley would prefer that children are born into the kind of place where they are destined to a life of suffering as a result of the unplanned parent's stupidity and negligence. Gov. Riley is also very proud of his anti-gambling record. Why should adults have the right to decide what they do with their own money, after all they may need it to care for their crack babies that they couldn't abort... at least until the future felons are old enough to snatch purses.
Gov. Riley is so proud of his morality and Christian background that he wants to help us to enjoy as much it, as he does. In fact, he describes himself as a 'devout Christian' in his own campaign materials. He was one of the people who thought a 2.5 ton religious statue in the center of the Supreme Court of Alabama wasn't a Religious symbol and that the 10 commandments were the primary basis for our laws. Well what's my sentence for not observing the Sabbath? I will never understand why people who claim to be so proud of the their own Religion are constantly proclaiming it and trying to convince other people how great it is and that the Gov't should help to spread it's teachings. That is appears to be religious innsecurity or some other neurosis and it is just as annoying, it's like some ugly Girl constantly asking how she looks.
Well now the good Gov. has outdone even himself. Riley's new 1.2 Billion dollar tax hike. Now you may wonder, what could possibly justify the new 'soak the rich' tax plan?
2 main rationales according to Riley:
1) IMPROVE EDUCATION: The sad utterance "what about the children" has been replaced with the constant bitching about more money for education. Riley complains about a $675 million shortfall in the education budget and blames that for Alabama's poorly performing school systems. Well, in Georgia we actually have worse test scores than Alabama, all of this while we Georgians spend 13K per student (among highest in the Nation). Throwing money at the problem DOES NOT WORK. Now lets talk about this so-called deficit. When the amount you want for funding (what educators ask for) - the amount available (Alabama tax dollars) is negative (the deficit) and your organization (Ala school system) is failing at its purpose, you should NOT get rewarded, you make do. If that means firing some useless individuals, so be it.
2) GOD TOLD HIM TO: Now a lot of Politicians like this asshole use the will of God to justify their actions. And when they do I get pissed both at the shit head who claims God told him to do something, and the dumb shits that believe him. Then I get concerned, I mean here you have a case were God has told this guy that he must take money from one person and give it to others. Maybe next time God will tell him that he should molest young boys or blow up a bus full of old people... this disassociative disorder (disassociating one's actions from themselves) is very disconcerting.
Thankfully and surprisingly, the people of Alabama also talked to the big guy at breakfast this morning, and delivered the message to Bob Riley that God did not want to raise taxes, by voting down this insane tax hike. posted by Keith at 11:59 AM
